Hi dear reader,
If you read my last blog post (you can do it here) you know that I’ve been working on having a more peaceful and slower life. I’m not gonna come here and tell you that it is easy because the truth is… it’s not. We live in a “hustle” culture, where everyone and everything is rushed. I started feeling really overwhelmed a couple months ago and decided to give slow living a try.
Is by trying to slow down and and spending less time in front of screens how I was able to bring my stress levels down. And I rediscovered the magic of journaling. I’m so excited to share with you these journal prompts! They are a great tool if you want to start your own journaling habit.
Here’s what’s inside:
- Colorful Journal Prompts Printable: For my colorful journaling lovers out there.
- B&W Journal Prompts Printable: A minimalistic version of the prompts.

The importance of Journaling as a part of Slow Living.
As I shared before, I’ve been trying to transition to a slower lifestyle lately. In a world where hustle culture is being praised, I invite you to take a step back and consider if this lifestyle is really what makes you happy. If it is, no judgment, I’m glad that you found a rhythm that fulfills you! The journal prompts that I’m sharing are a great tool to reflect on why.
In case you are like me and crave a slower, more peaceful approach to life, then I have GREAT news for you… Journaling is one of my favorite parts of slow living. If you ever tried journaling before and you didn’t stick to it, it’s alright! Maybe this is your sign to give it another try.
I will go right ahead and say it… you don’t need to go out and spend money on aesthetic notebooks and all the perfect pens, highlighters and markers to start journaling. Any notebook, piece of paper or back of a receipt will work, you just need something to write with and a quiet moment with yourself.
I want to make an emphasis on how important it is to not fall for all the “perfect aesthetic journaling” content we see online. If you are super creative and want to journal by making drawings and adding colors to your entries that’s great; but if you are not, PLEASE don’t let those “expectations” be an obstacle to start journaling.
Once you are ready to sit down with your thoughts and feelings and put them on paper you can start writing how you are feeling at the moment. If you need help to start, pick one of the prompts from the printable and let your heart guide you to answer it. Having these moments of quiet are key to any kind of intentional living you are practicing or want to get started with.
In an environment where everything and everyone are fighting for a couple seconds of our attention, its crucial to focus that attention inwards. Making a check in with ourselves and how our relationships/finances/family/spirituality are making us feel and act.
Are you happy with the current pace of your day-to-day? Are you showing up for yourself the same way you show up for others? Are you prioritizing your physical and mental wellbeing in your relationships? Did you stick with your new year resolutions? If you are like me (human lol) then I’m sure that our answers are not always yes… that’s where journaling can help you brainstorm how to get there.
Also, remember that can find my other printables on my Printable page or click here.
Why is journaling key to living a slower life? And what do I mean by slower?
Journaling has been proven to be a great way to stop and reflect on your feelings, your surroundings, and the direction that you want to follow. It’s not until you stop and ask yourself (without outside noise and expectations) what things make you feel happy and peaceful that you can start working on filling your life with those things.
For me, I’ve realized that spending time outside in nature is an easy way to bring my stress levels down and enjoy the quiet and the views. Being surrounded by things that are alive somehow gives me a feeling of peace. For you, it could be going on a hike, walking your dog, reading, or maybe journaling. Whatever it is, I try to stick to things that I don’t need to spend money on and that will not have me staring at a screen.
Slow living is all about where you put your attention and how intentional you are about spending your time. That’s why journaling can be an amazing tool at helping you anchor yourself in the present moment and let go of everyday stress.
To kickstart this journaling exercise, I‘ve made 2 printables with journal prompts that will help you get those first sentences down. I know journaling can be intimidating at first because maybe you are not sure what to write about. Hopefully this prompts will help you find some inspiration.

Embrace your quiet time! Pin your favorite printables to save it to Pinterest so you can come back and check it out or share it with your friends!
