What is a No Buy Challenge? And how it can help you…

Don’t let the fancy tag scare you away. If any of this statements apply to you then you NEED this printable:

  • saving money is one of your “new year resolutions”
  • You plan on declutterring your home from stuff you don’t need
  • If you are spending too much money shopping online
  • There’s a trip or big purchase you want to make
  • Big life plans are coming up, like a wedding or having a baby.
  • You want to donate more to causes you love!

Ok, so know that we have established that this printable can be a great tool for you… let me explain how it works.

A No Buy Challenge is based on exactly that: a list of things that you won’t buy during the time you are doing the challenge. The reason to add that item or category of items could be anything you want. Maybe you want to add lip products because you have 10+ lip glosses you haven’t finished (we’ve all been there), or maybe you add more specific stuff like: things from Target’s “dollar” section because you know they’ll end up becoming clutter once the trend is over in a couple weeks.

You can always use this No Buy Challenge as a helping tool for any other resolutions you might have! For example if your goal is to travel more this year and you realized that you spend a lot of money on sweatshirts then you can add sweatshirts to your no buy list. However you use this challenge, I’m sure you will get benefits from doing a no buy list. Saving money, spending more thoughtfully and helping the earth are just some of the benefits.

Some people do Monthly No Buy challenges and Quarterly No Buy challenges; this printable is very beginner friendly if you’ve never done anything like this before.

Personally, I love me a No Buy Challenge. My list this year has over 50 items! I’ve been doing this type of exercises for a while now. Mostly to heal my relationship with money and as a practice within my transition to a slower, more sustainable way of living. This is a big topic I’ve become very passionate about so please let me know in the comments if it’s something you are interested in reading more about!
